November 16, 2013 : The Government of India has conferred the Bharat Ratna to the cricketing legend Sachin Tendulkar just hours after his retirement from the in international cricket on November 16, 2013. Sachin is honoured for his 24 year long and splendid cricketing contribution to the nation. Sachin retired from international cricket after playing his 200th and final Test against West Indies at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai. The Government has also announced the Bharat Ratna for the chemist genius Prof. Chintamani Nagesa Ramachandra Rao, popularly known as C.N.R Rao. He currently serves as the Head of the Scientific Advisory Council to the Prime Minister of India. Bharat Ratna:
